Our rigorous, eight-step selection process is designed to determine if it’s the right job for you. It can take between four and twelve months to complete. STEP ONE+ You’ve started it. We want you to look carefully through our site. Read about training school, the eligibility criteria, skills and behaviours. Find out as much as you can about life as a firefighter. STEP TWO+ Complete our Outreach Programme: Outreach event: talk to the team, ask questions, and we’ll get to know you. Information session: gain a full picture of the Level 3 Operational Firefighting Apprenticeship. Outreach Experience Day: understand the practical aspects of the job. STEP THREE+ Once you have completed the Outreach Programme, you’ll be told how to fill out a firefighter application. You will also have online tests to do. New HQ We’re proud to be returning to our roots. In the 1930s, London Fire Brigade built a combined fire station and office block. It’s a beautiful Grade III listed site at 8 Albert Embankment near Lambeth Bridge on the River Thames. In 2008, we moved out and into Southwark – we are soon returning to our historic headquarters, completely refurbished.
