It is confidential and available 24/7, year-round. Our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is designed to support you with both the emotional and practical challenges that life can bring. The service is completely confidential, and your employer will not be informed if you choose to use it. Counselling Counselling We have a professionally accredited counselling service to help with your psychological wellbeing. This service is open to all members of the Brigade, no matter their role. It can be accessed for free. You will have to reach out to the service – unless you are a firefighter that has experienced a fatality, in which case, they will automatically contact you. Support includes: Counsellors to speak with in the moment. Financial: qualified advisers on budgeting, debt, and long-term planning. Family care: relationship challenges, bereavement. Six, solution-focused counselling sessions per year. Digital tools for everyday wellbeing. Fire Fighters’ charity Fire Fighters’ charity The Fire Fighter’s charity is there for all members of the UK’s fire service community — and are still on-hand after retirement. They all offer support to family members of those in the fire service. The charity provides: bereavement support, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, nursing and psychological support services. Plus, they have a crisis line and offer residential programmes for those in need of respite. Staff Networks Staff Networks We encourage our staff to support each other, through peer-to-peer networks. The following are part of LFB: Asian Fire Service Association, Disability Working Group, LGBT+ Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression group, Parents and Carers Network, United MINDs, and Women in the Fire Service. Our staff networks provide a space to learn and bring about a greater sense of belonging.
